The minister made the remarks while addressing an online meeting at the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock at the Secretariat on Sunday (May 17, 2020). He said at this time, domestic and foreign fishermen should stop illegal fishing at any cost. The minister said food aid at the rate of 40 kg per month is being provided to fishermen who refrain from fishing during the ban on fishing in the sea. Addressing the participants at the online meeting, the minister said the government's decision to allow fish to grow and not to fish illegally should be strictly implemented. No one should be allowed to do anything outside the law. In that case any pressure will be dealt with. No one will be exempted if there is any laxity in the performance of duties. The meeting was attended by Fisheries and Livestock Secretary Raunak Mahmud and several other officials. Besides, representatives of Bangladesh Navy, representatives of Armed Forces, Bangladesh Police and Bangladesh Coast Guard, DIG of Naval Police, Director General of Fisheries Department, several Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners, District Fisheries Officers and Marine White Fish Trawler Owners Association, Marine Fishermen Boat Owners Association, Bangladesh Marine Fisheries Association and National Fisheries Representatives of the Matsoyajibi Samiti joined the meeting online.
