Port users say that wars, geopolitical tensions, etc., in different parts of the world have slowed down the expected pace of the global economy. In addition, port operations have been disrupted due to incidents such as transport strikes, customs strikes, and shutdowns. Still, with the close cooperation of the port officials, employees, workers, and concerned stakeholders, it has not had much impact on the operational activities of the port; rather, container, cargo, and ship handling have increased, and positive growth in export earnings continues.
An official of Chittagong Port said, Chittagong Port acts as the main driving force or the heart of the economy of Bangladesh. The majority of the national revenue is generated from this port. The port's goal is to modernize the port, reduce the average dwell time of ships by efficiently managing cargo and container handling activities, and expand jetty and yard facilities, ensuring safe and efficient port management, and playing an active role in national import and export.
