Workshop on wheat and corn innovations in Dinajpur

A workshop titled Introduction and Extension of Technological Innovations was held at the Wheat and Maize Institute in the district. The workshop was held at the Dinajpur Nashipur Wheat and Maize Research Institute (BWMRI) Seminar Room on Tuesday (October 21, 2025) from 12 noon to 4 pm.

The chief guest of the event was Professor Dr. Mobasher Monem, Chairman of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission. The special guest of the event was Professor ASM Golam Hafiz, Member of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission, Additional Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Dinajpur Region, Md. Riaz Uddin, Executive Director of the Cotton Development Board, Dr. May. Rezaul Amin, Former Additional Secretary, Md. Azizul Islam and Former Director (Training) of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Dhaka, Md. Belal Uddin.

Director General of the Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute, Dr. The workshop, chaired by Salahuddin Ahmed, was presented by BW MRI Director (Planning, Training and Technology Transfer Wing) Dr. Md. Mahfuz Bajaj. The welcome address was delivered by the BW MRI Director (Administration and Finance), Dr. Md. Abdul Hakim.

BW MRI Senior Scientific Officer Dr. Naureen Islam Toma presented the program.

It was informed in the program that so far, Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute has developed 38 varieties of wheat and 20 varieties of hybrid maize. It was informed at the workshop that all steps will be taken to advance wheat and maize.

Earlier, the guests who came to the workshop visited various research activities of the Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute.

Teachers from Habiprob, officials from government and non-government organizations related to agricultural extension and research from different districts, farmer representatives, representatives of print and electronic media, and prominent figures of the area participated in the program.
