A new import policy order has been issued to double the list of prohibited products. The new order for a period of three years i.e. 2021-24 has recently been published by the Ministry of Commerce in the form of Gazette. In the previous order, there were 12 categories of prohibited products. In the new order it has increased to 26. Note that the import policy for the period 2018-21 has not been ordered. Import Policy Order 2015-18 expires on 30 June 2018. About four years later, a new policy order was issued.

The 26 categories of products banned under the new import policy include shrimp, live pigs and all kinds of pig products, poppy seeds, grass, wine lease and argol, condensed sugar, synthetic mustard oil, substandard products or old , Used, reconditioned products or factory discarded or stocklot products etc. In addition, old or used motorcycles, gas syringes, two-stroke engines and three-wheeler vehicles with chassis ie tempo, autorickshaw, casino gambling equipment, components, reconditioned office equipment i.e. photocopier, typewriter, computer, telex, phone, Materials and old electronics materials, fertilizers made with all kinds of industrial sludge and sludge any product, all kinds of waste products are mentioned as import-prohibited.

The list also includes various chemical pesticides and manufactured products under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutance (POP). These products include aldrin, chlorden, DDT, di-aldrin, endrin, heptachlor, Mirex, toxafen, hexchlorobenzene, polychlorinated bi-phenyl, hydraulic horn, all deaf horns of 75 decibels and more.

According to the maps published by the Bangladesh Survey Department, maps, charts and geographical globes which do not show the boundaries of Bangladesh, horror comics, pornography, sabotage literature booklets, news magazines, posters, photos, films, papers, audio-video tapes etc. are also banned. The list goes on and on. Meanwhile, there are some products outside the prohibited products, which can be imported subject to conditions.

According to the new import policy order, these products include furnace oil, fishing nets less than 4 and a half centimeters in diameter or length, imported cars older than five years, all types of motorcycles older than three years and above 165 cc, including LNG and liquefied propane and butane without petroleum. Residues of petroleum oil without gas and other gaseous hydrocarbons and petroleum coke and petroleum bitumen.

The new import policy stipulates that all types of toys and entertainment products apply to children of any age, and that plastic toys require a certificate from the exporting country's appropriate authority stating that they are "not harmful to health." The previous import policy did not mention the import of civilian aircraft or helicopters, but this time it has been added.
