Sri Lankan businessmen are invited to invest in the economic zone of Bangladesh

Mr. Mahbubul Alam, President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the apex organization of businessmen, has urged Sri Lankan businessmen to invest in the economic zones of Bangladesh.

The FBCCI President made this call during a courtesy meeting with Sri Lankan High Commissioner Dharmapal Werakkodi at FBCCI's Gulshan office on Sunday (January 21, 2024).

The FBCCI president said that the government is establishing 100 special economic zones in Bangladesh. Besides, attractive incentives including a one-stop service and e-platform are ongoing to facilitate business, trade, and investment in Bangladesh. Sri Lankan businessmen can benefit by setting up factories here on their own or in joint ventures.

All kinds of assistance will be provided by FBCCI if Sri Lankan investors want to invest in Bangladesh. In the meeting, the Sri Lankan High Commissioner said that many Sri Lankan businessmen are interested in doing business in Bangladesh. Sri Lanka receives a large number of tourists from Bangladesh every year. The time has come to increase trade between the two countries. At this time, the leaders of FBCCI praised the role of the central bank of that country in turning around the economy of Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan High Commission Commercial Counselor Shrimali Jayarathna, FBCCI Vice President Shami Kaiser, Rashedul Hossain Chowdhury (Roni), Advisor Manjur Ahmed, and others were present in the meeting.
