Now the rice is being sold in the market for Tk. 38 to 50 per kg. Medium varieties of rice are available at the rate of Tk. 50 to 55 per kg. And thin rice is being sold for 58 to 65 per kg. Rice prices have risen since last November. In November, the fat rice was sold at Tk 32, medium rice at 35 to 40 and thin rice at Tk. 45 per kg.
The Directorate of Agricultural Marketing, a government agency, has given an estimate of the retail market of Dhaka till March 25. It can be seen that the price of fattened rice at Karwan Bazar, Mirpur-1, Mohammadpur Town Hall Market and New Market raw market is between Tk. 38 to 40 per kg. On November 3, it was between Tk. 30 to 35 per kg. As a result, the lowest price of coarse rice has also increased by about 27 percent.
A businessman from Old Dhaka Babubazar, said prices are expected to drop before the new rice of Boro season arrives. The new rice will arrive late next month.

In the market, the price per kg of coarse lentils has gone up from Tk. 75 to 80 per kg, two months ago it was between Tk. 60. Medium lentil lentils are being sold at Tk. 100, it was for Tk. 70. The lentils of lentils were between Tk. 1005 to 110 per kg, which is now being sold at Tk. 130 to 140 per kg. Comparison of market rates from the Agriculture Marketing Department shows that in four months, the price of coarse lentils has increased by about 27 percent.
Open soybean oil is now selling for between Tk. 95 to 97 per liter. In January, it was between Tk. 85. The price of small bottles of soybean oil is also high. Abul Kashem, a wholesaler of caravan bazaar, said the maximum retail price (MRP) of a liter bottle is Tk.110. It was sold for Tk. 100.
An official of the food department said that the government has reduced the price of rice in the open market by selling rice (OMS) to Tk. 10 per kg. The sale will start from next Sunday (April 5, 2020). A man can buy a maximum of 5 kg rice at a time and can be purchased once a week. The national ID should be shown at the time of purchase of rice.
