Bangladesh-India has recorded more than a hundred freight trains a month in the Corona situation. The train was launched between the two countries in June this year. The trains are operated under the management of Bangladesh Railway and Indian Railway.
This information was given in a notification sent from the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Thursday (July 2, 2020).
Indian Railways has supplied 103 freight trains to Bangladesh with essential commodities like onion, ginger, chilli, maize, turmeric, rice seeds and sugar.
Carriage of goods by train between the two countries has increased across the border between the Corona epidemic and the lockdown. Which is a record of more than a hundred freight trains running on the railways of the two countries in a month.
Bangladesh Railway has allowed the introduction of parcel train service in India after seeing the success of the supply of goods by train. So that 238 metric tons of goods will be carried.
Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Riva Ganguly Das, in a series of video conferences, requested the Ministry of Railways, the NBR and the Ministry of Commerce to facilitate the movement of goods between the two countries.
After discussions, NBR and Bangladesh Railway have now agreed to facilitate container train services through Benapole-Petrapole.
