The central bank has issued new guidelines for cash assistance against exports of frozen shrimp and other fish. For this reason, from now on the application for cash assistance will have to submit the certificate of the concerned trade organization.
Last Wednesday (October 25, 2023) an instruction in this regard was issued from the foreign exchange policy department of Bangladesh Bank. The directive has been sent by the central bank to all authorized dealers in foreign exchange transactions.
According to the directive, it is informed by the government decision that the company applying for cash assistance in the export sector of frozen shrimp and other fish must be a member of Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association or a member of Bangladesh Marine Fisheries Association in case of export of frozen shrimp and other fish harvested and processed from the deep sea. Must be an institution.
Besides, from now on, the Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association or Bangladesh Marine Fisheries Association certificate must be submitted along with the application form for cash assistance against the export of frozen shrimp and other fish.
The concerned exporting company should be a fish exporting company duly licensed by the Department of Fisheries. The said instructions will come into effect in respect of shipped goods from the date of issue of the circular. It is also stated that other instructions of the circular issued earlier regarding the disbursement of cash assistance in the said sector shall remain unchanged.
