On Monday (Feb.8.2021), Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on farmers to end their two-month-long protest against the reforms, assuring them that a system of pricing the main crop would remain in place.
They say the three new firms have demanded the repeal of the law that they will harm them to the benefit of big corporations and allow the government to stop buying foodgrains at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), with thousands of farmers camped on the outskirts of Delhi by the end of 2020.
“MSP was there. MSP is there. MSP will remain in the future,” Modi told lawmakers.
