Henry Simon’s New Reference Project: Grand Moulins du Benin

Henry Simon Milling – the leading British name in milling technologies - has recently built and delivered a new flour mill for Grands Moulins du Benin (GMB), which was successfully commissioned in September 2021.

Within the capacity increase project of GMB, the new milling plant’s complete equipment has been supplied and built by Henry Simon Milling on a turnkey basis including the process design, manufacturing, project management, and installation services. Plant Details GMB’s flour milling plant is located in Cotonou city, Benin; in which the new production line is installed in the same building with their existing machinery and equipment. Supplied and installed by Henry Simon, the new production line has 200 ton daily capacity processing imported hard, semi-hard, and soft wheat to produce bakery flour for distribution within Benin and neighborhood countries. The state of art milling machinery including roller mills (HSRM), quadro plansifters (HSQP 830G) with large sieve boxes, and purifiers (HSPU), are equipped with Advanced Sensor Technology. This technology allows real-time monitoring of operating conditions of machines, to ensure high reliability, efficiency, and operational safety in the milling process. Mill Management and Automation The advanced automation system of the plant provides an integrated and easy process management ability, with the centralized monitoring of the entire process from the wheat intake to flour packaging. The Scada’s high ability for generating detailed reports on production data, extraction, maintenance plan, and error log, etc. is another advanced feature of the automation system. The remote connection feature also enables the Henry Simon after-sales team to access the mill from long distances whenever required, for technical assistance including inspection, error diagnosis, calibration, and troubleshooting.
