Abdur Razzak, adding that private sector investment and co-operation is needed to make agriculture profitable. He was speaking as the chief guest at a virtual discussion on 'Bangabandhu's Dream: Agricultural Development of Bangladesh in the Last Five Decades' organized by the International Business Forum of Bangladesh (IBFB) from the office room of the Secretariat on September 2, 2021. Expressing a lot of potential in agriculture, the agriculture minister further said that agriculture will be modernized and mechanized soon. But the cooperation of the private sector is needed for the farmers to get a fair price and add value to the agricultural products. The private sector does not want to invest in agriculture. He said the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is encouraging and cooperating with the private sector in research and investment to make agriculture profitable. When this government came to power in 2009, it has provided 20 percent incentive to increase the export of agricultural processed and agricultural products. He called upon the private sector to make full use of this opportunity and provide more facilities if needed. Source: Online/KSU
