According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the government has
given free seeds and fertilizers worth Tk 11 crore to 1 lakh 85 thousand
farmers affected by floods in 17 districts.
In the first phase, 94,000 farmers have been provided Aman
rice seeds and fertilizers worth Tk 5 crore 88 lakh, according to a press
release.
In addition, 700 farmers of the four most affected districts
- Sylhet, Sunamganj, Moulvibazar and Habiganj - have been given Tk 3.5 lakh of
late variety Aman seeds and fertilizers in the second phase of government
assistance.
The ministry said that the third phase of the rehabilitation
assistance program of Tk 5 crore is in progress.
In the third phase, 90,000 farmers will be given seeds and
fertilizers. Each farmer will get five kg of high-yielding amon seeds, 10 kg of
di-ammonium phosphate and 10 kg of murate of potash fertilizer, it said.
Besides, the affected farmers will also be given seeds of
different varieties of vegetables, the press release informed.
