China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) has approved 1195 register licenses for the year 2021 from January to the end of December 2021 for imported feed and feed additives products to China. In terms of classification based on product categories, there are 319 feed additives, 187 single feeds, 8 feed premix, 9 concentrate supplements, 292 cat food complete foods, 292 Dog complete foods, and 14 Pet health products. In total there is a sum of 595 feed products and 598 pet food products. Over the last 5 years, The year between 2020 and 2021 number of product licenses approved by MARA is higher (1195 in 2021 and 1258 in 2020) compared to other years 594 in 2019, 568 in 2018, and 562 in 2017. The epidemic has hindered the flow of domestic and foreign personnel, but it has not hindered the pace of foreign animal feed companies exploring China market hence the increase in the number of import registrations over the last 2 years shows the confidence of foreign enterprises in China’s economy and market. For overseas enterprises looking to enter China market to export feed, feed additives and pet food shall need to accomplish 2 main registration as compliance required by China government.
