The first seven days of the operation of Chittagong Drydock Limited have seen significant progress in container handling activities. This activity started on July 7. The average daily handling of 225 TEU containers has increased, which indicates positive growth, the interim government believes.
These things were said in a notification dated July 13, 2025. It said that the NCT Terminal of Chittagong Port had been operated by Saif Powertech Limited for a long time. The port's contract with that company expired on July 6. As per the decision of the Ministry of Shipping, Chittagong Drydock Limited took over the responsibility of the NCT Terminal from July 7.
Chittagong Drydock Limited successfully completed the loading and unloading of 10 shipping containers in seven days from July 7 to July 13. Currently, operations are underway on four ships simultaneously at the four jetties of NCT.
In the six days before taking over (July 1 to July 6), Saif Powertech Limited handled an average of 2,956 TEUs containers per day. In the next seven days, Chittagong Drydock Limited completed an average of 3,181 TEUs container handling per day.
