5 German states ("Länder") have by now announced dates and conditions for trade shows and business events to take place again, covering major German “Messe” destinations such as Cologne, Düsseldorf, Essen, Hamburg, Hannover, Nuremberg, Munich, and Stuttgart.
The industry is allowed to run shows again already under differing health restrictions in North Rhine-Westphalia and in Hamburg, given that infection numbers remain below certain thresholds.
Bavaria has set “September 1, 2021, at the latest” as restart date, and will run the “Trendset” show in July as a pilot event. In September, Munich is set to host the IAA motor show for the first time.
Notably still absent are reopening plans from the states Berlin, Hesse (Frankfurt), and Saxony (Leipzig). Messe Berlin in recent days cited this lack of clarity as a reason for the cancellation of its IFA show that was scheduled for late summer.
