GFMM desk: So far in the current boro season, 44 percent of the paddy has been harvested in the haor area, said the Minister of Agriculture. Md. Abdur Razzak.
He said, "As a result of various initiatives taken by the Ministry of Agriculture, the farmers of Haor have been able to harvest paddy well and have already been able to harvest 44 percent of the paddy and take it home."
Abdur Razzak said, "Despite the transport ban, we have made arrangements to bring workers from different districts to harvest paddy." Workers have come from different districts following the health rules. Combined harvesters and reapers are being used for harvesting paddy in Haor area besides laborers. Paddy is being harvested in full swing with these equipments.
The Agriculture Minister said that BRRI 28 varieties of paddy have ripened earlier, it is almost finished. BRRI-29 variety of paddy is not ripe yet, it will take another 7-8 days. If there is no abnormal rainfall or early flooding, we hope that the farmers of Haor will be able to harvest paddy in time within the next 10 days.
He also thanked the local people's representatives, local administration, district police, health department and district / upazila / union agriculture department. Besides, the Agriculture Minister thanked the people of various professions including various political organizations-Krishak League, Chhatra League, other political organizations, social organizations, school-college students-teachers who have come forward to cut the paddy of farmers.
