Bangladesh Dairy Farmers Association has demanded immediate stoppage of soybean mill exports to protect farmers. In a discussion titled 'Stop Soybean Mill Exports, Protect Dairy Poultry and Fisheries' Mohammad Imran Hossain, president of the Bangladesh Dairy Farmers Association, said this at a press conference on Monday (September 27) morning at the Maulana Mohammad Akram Khan Hall of the National Press Club.
He said the soybean export was a suicidal decision for the country. This decision will result in huge losses to the country's poultry and livestock sector. Meanwhile, local soybean mill producers have increased the price of soybean mills by Tk 10-12 per kg on the news that the government has decided to export soybean mills. Reduced supply. This has created an artificial crisis in the market.
Mohammad Imran Hossain said that at present, it takes about 50 days to import soybean mills from Brazil and Argentina, from LC to the time the goods arrive at the port. It takes 70 days from the United States. It takes 7 to 10 days by road from India and 15 to 20 days by container.
He added that 29 lakh cattle were not sold last Eid. To reduce the losses of the farmers, we were asking them to stop importing frozen buffalo meat from India. Meat is entering through Chittagong port even after the concerned secretary said so. We demand to stop the import of this frozen meat.
The president of Bangladesh Dairy Farmers Association said that now the price of cow feed has to be curbed. If prices continue to rise in this way, there will be no way but to close the farm. Therefore, I seek the Prime Minister's intervention in this matter without delay.
