AIP is 22 persons for contribution to the agriculture sector

The Ministry of Agriculture has selected 22 people as 'Agriculturally Important Persons' or Agriculturally Important Persons (AIP) for the year 2021 for their significant contribution to the agricultural sector. Their list was published through a gazette last Monday (June 24, 2024). Selected AIPs will get various benefits like CIP from July this year to June next year.

This time AIP has been selected in five categories. These are the agricultural category (innovative variety or technology), agricultural production or establishment of commercial farms and agro-processing industry category, exportable agricultural product production category, recognized or government-registered agricultural organization category and Bangabandhu Agriculture Award Gold Medal category.

Among them, the people selected in the agriculture (innovative varieties or technology) category are AKM Farayezul Haque Ansari, President of Agribusiness Division of ACI Limited, MA Matin, an agricultural entrepreneur from Comilla, Janata Engineering Proprietor Md. Oli Ullah and Fakirhat Upazila Chairman Swapan Kumar Das of Bagerhat.

10 people have become AIP in agricultural production or the establishment of commercial farms and agro-processing industries. They are agricultural entrepreneurs of Madhupur of Tangail district. Chanwar Hossain, Shahida Begum, owner of Khan Bij Bhandar, Faridpur, Sureshwar Mallik, agricultural entrepreneur of Dumuria, Khulna, Green Planet Agro, owner of Chuadanga Jeevannagar. Ruhul Amin, Chairman of Agro-Based Socio-Economic Development Services of Raiganj Upazila of Sirajganj. Sakhawat Hossain, proprietor of Tanmoy Dairy Farm in Ishwardi, Pabna. Amirul Islam.

Also in this category are the owners of Al Baraka Fish Farm and Hatchery in Begumganj, Noakhali, and Machudul Haque Chowdhury, the agricultural entrepreneur of Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila. Two institutes have been selected as AIPs in the exportable agricultural products production category. They are the director of the Living Art Garden of Gazipur Sadar Upazila KM Sabuj and agricultural entrepreneur Moha of Gomstapur of Chapainawabganj. Rafiqul Islam.

Three persons have been selected as AIPs in the category of Agricultural Organizations recognized or registered by the Government. They are Shaikh Siraj, managing director of Channel Eye, Sahela Abedin, founder of Chittagong-based organization Tilottama, and Shikha Rani Chakraborty, president of Dhandia CIG Women's Cooperative Society of Satkhira.

Apart from this, three gold medalists in the Bangabandhu Agriculture Award have been selected as AIP for the year 2021. They are Ram Nibas Agarwala, the owner of Annapurna Agro Service in Domar Upazila of Nilphamari, Maya Rani Baul, the owner of Amit Dairy Farm in Nawabganj, Dhaka and agricultural entrepreneur Md. Atgharia Upazila of Pabna. Abdul Khalek.

The government launched the AIP award every year to honor and encourage those associated with agriculture, including farmers, agronomists, entrepreneurs, producers, and farmers, who are one of the success factors in the agricultural sector in the country. AIP policy was formulated in 2019 for this purpose. In light of that, the Ministry of Agriculture awarded AIP to 13 people for the first time in the country for the year 2020.

AIP awardees will get entry passes to the Secretariat, invitations to state functions, priority air and rail tickets and priority cabins for treatment of themselves and family members in government hospitals for a stipulated period of one year.
