Recently a number of overseas manufacturing companies interested to export feed and feed additives in China keep on increasing each year. The classifications of feed according to China’s regulations for overseas manufacturers are as follows. Single feed, Compound feed including pet food. Countries allowed to export pet food to China include Brazil, United States, Denmark, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Argentina, Czech Republic, Thailand, Philippines, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Netherlands, Austria, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia
The other classification of feed involves concentrated feed, which includes protein supplement feed. Additive premix feed is another classification of feed. It includes additive categories which involve. Amino Acids, their Salts and analogues,. Vitamin, provitamins, chemically well-defined substances having similar biological edict to vitamins, Mineral elements, and their complexes(chelates) minerals and their complexes( or chelates). Also, enzymes, live micro-organisms, Non-Protein Nitrogen, Antioxidants, preservatives and acidity regulators, coloring agents, Flavoring and appetizing substances binders, sticking, stabilizing, and emulsifying agents, Polysaccharides, and Oligosaccharides are included in the feed additive categories. The last category includes Concentrate supplements: mixed concentrated feed, etc, mainly composed of energy feed, protein feed, mineral feed, and some feed additives.
Overseas manufacturers planning to register their feed products to sell in China need to apply for a MARA license issued by the Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. The license is valid for 5 years and needs to renew at least 2 months before the expiring date, the manufacture requires to entrust a Chinese authorized company in China to handle the application of the license on the company’s behalf. The documents involve during the process include production or using the license of the local country, power of attorney, product physicochemical properties, source of the product &composition, manufacturing method, product standard, and test method, production or using labels the local country, intended use range of application and usage and dosage, packing and storage and application situation in other country or area.
The overall MARA process takes 4 to 6 months after submitting the required material to the institute. MARA will audit the materials and the decision will be made within 20 business days. After the materials are approved, the sample will be sent to the inspection institution for review test and results will be turned out within 2 months. After the samples qualified, the inspection institution report to MARA which will issue the Register License of Imported Feed and Feeds additives” and makes a public announcement
