According to Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) China tops the list of top 10 rice-paddy producing nations with a production of 212,129,000 tonnes. The latest data puts India in the second spot as the country produces 172,580,000 tonnes.
The list, which is dominated by the Asian countries, puts Brazil on the 9th position 11,749,192 tonnes and Pakistan in the 10th position with 10,802,949 tonnes. Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Vietnam have found a place among the top five rice-producing countries.
India and China produce about 384,709,000 tonnes of rice between them. While half of China's total grain output is dedicated to rice, India manages to keep its output high due to large swathes of agricultural land and cheap labor.
