Large ships carrying imported goods from abroad to Bangladesh are also stranded during the strike. The amount of trapped products is increasing. According to the port, about 1 million tons of goods have been stranded in 42 large ships at the port of Chittagong till this morning. Another 12 lakh tonnes of goods are stuck in 925 lighter ships anchored at 39 seaports across the country carrying goods from large ships in the port. The program started at midnight last Monday at the call of the Shipping Workers Federation. They started this program by demanding 11 points including food allowance and risk allowance. After the start of the program, the transportation of goods across the country was stopped at the same time. Before the start of the strike, the Chairman of the Inland Shipping Authority, Commodore Golam Sadeq, sat in a meeting with the two sides. But there was no solution as both sides remained adamant. However, this afternoon the chairman of Chittagong Port has called an emergency meeting with all parties. When asked, Port Chairman Rear Admiral S M Abul Kalam Azad said, "Initiatives have been taken to resolve the issue through talks." Programs that turn the wheel of the economy are not good for the country. Because of the rising cost of compensation due to the strike, the common man will ultimately suffer. Small issues should not harm the country's economy or international trade in any way. Source: Online/SZK
