The Biosecurity Asia Forum will be held on October 10, 2024, as part of the Vietstock 2024 Expo & Forum at SECC, 799 Nguyen Van Linh Street, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The industry is burdened with disease outbreaks
Since the beginning of 2024, livestock diseases have caused significant losses in Vietnam. African swine fever and foot-and-mouth disease have seen a dramatic increase in outbreaks, surged by 2.4 and 2.1 times respectively compared to last year. Shrimp farming has also been severely affected by many difficult-to-control diseases such as White Spot Syndrome Virus.
Proactively keep your farm free from disease
Normally, livestock and aquaculture farmers tend to wait until diseases occur before taking action. However, a proactive approach, involving applying measures to prevent, control, and eliminate pathogens, is far more effective in protecting the herds.
Why is biosecurity even necessary when we have vaccines?
While vaccines play a crucial role in disease prevention, it never provide 100% protection. Therefore, biosecurity is the only comprehensive solution to prevent the introduction and spread of pathogens, including those for which there are no vaccines.
Biosecure livestock and aquaculture farming contribute to increased productivity, improved animal welfare, and reduced reliance on antibiotics, thereby minimizing antimicrobial resistance. However, many farmers face significant challenges in adopting these biosecurity practices.
Explore valuable insights in the Biosecurity Asia Forum
In response to the increasing threats posed by diseases in livestock and aquaculture, the Biosecurity Asia Forum will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, as part of the Vietstock 2024 and Aquaculture Vietnam 2024 exhibitions. These free-to-attend exhibitions and conferences are open to all stakeholders in the livestock and aquaculture industry, from farmers to feed mills and processing plants.
With the theme 'Livestock Transformation for Better Production, Nutrition, Environment, and Life', Vietstock 2024 and Aquaculture Vietnam 2024 will be the perfect pieces to complete the sustainable picture of Vietnam's livestock and aquaculture industry.
To further promote the sustainability of the livestock and aquaculture sector, the exhibition will feature the Biosecurity Asia Forum focusing on 'Building A Strong Biosecurity Culture'.
At the conference, leading experts will share comprehensive, scientifically sound, practical, and economically viable measures. These approaches will integrate multiple strategies to assist farmers in protecting their herds from various sources of pathogens.
Comprehensive biosecurity approaches for livestock and aquaculture
To kick off the conference, the Department of Livestock Production (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) will deliver a valuable presentation on 'Sustainable and effective biosecurity in Vietnam – policy and progress'.
Following this, Assist. Prof. Pariwat Poolperm, a well-known pig health and production consultant from Professional Training and Consultants Co., Ltd., will share valuable insights. With his experience in successfully managing African swine fever (ASF) in Thailand, he will present practical solutions to ensure ‘Biosecurity in pig farms’.
To foster sustainable development in the aquaculture industry, another key topic to be presented at the conference is 'Biosecurity in hatcheries and aquaculture farms'.
Continuing the program, Dr. Sompiss Jullabutradee, Owner and Managing Director of G&S Agriconsultants Co., Ltd,. will present on 'Biosecurity in poultry production'.
To equip farmers with a comprehensive range of strategies to prevent diseases, the conference will feature presentations on 'Biosecurity Best Practices for Livestock Farmers', 'Mitigating pathogen transmission in feed', and 'Drinking and pond water – an overlooked biosecurity threat'.
The seminar will conclude with closing remarks by Craige Allan on the topic of 'Biosecurity – on-farm compliance and enforcement'.
Tap into a world of opportunity, connect with thousands of potential customers worldwide
Vietstock 2024 and the Biosecurity Asia Forum brought together over 13,000 experts, decision-makers, veterinarians, livestock farmers, and farm owners from Vietnam and worldwide, all united in their efforts to develop and implement sustainable biosecurity solutions for their farming practices.
Therefore, the conference serves not only as a platform for knowledge sharing, but also as an ideal place for businesses to reach thousands of potential customers, and promote their relevant products and services.
The conference will take place throughout the second day of the Vietstock 2024. Livestock and aquaculture suppliers will have an excellent opportunity to participate as speakers, sharing their experiences, and solutions, and introducing their biosecurity technologies and products to thousands of conference attendees, thereby expanding their international business network.
