A highlight at GEAPS Exchange in
Kansas City was presenting 10 awards to industry colleagues. It was great to
honor these winners together, but they each deserve a moment in the
sun. We will be honoring each of the award winners individually over the
coming weeks.
Dave Marr, retired from Michigan Agricultural Commodities,
Inc, was presented with the International Member of
Distinction Award. The award recognizes members who have made extraordinary
contributions to advancing GEAPS’ mission. These are people who not only work
to make a difference for their local chapter, but who work for the greater good
of GEAPS as an organization. Individuals given this honor are grain industry
professionals who consistently demonstrate volunteer leadership qualities that
epitomize GEAPS’ core values.
Dave started his career in the grain industry back in 1969
before he had even graduated school. He stayed with the same company, now
called Michigan Agricultural Commodities, until his retirement a few years ago.
Dave joined GEAPS when he got his first management role in 1998. He has given a
lot of his time to GEAPS over the years. He filled many leadership roles with
the Michigan/South Ontario Chapter and GEAPS International Board of Directors.
He has also been involved with Student Day at Exchange and served on GEAPS
membership committee. His nominator said “Dave embodies what GEAPS hopes all
their members do. A commitment to his country, community, business, and
industry.” With that resume, it's hard to disagree!
Congratulations, Dave!
