Agriculture experts at a function in Gaibandha on 13th March 2024 emphasized the need to introduce smart, latest agricultural technologies including climate-resilient ones to build Smart Bangladesh by 2041.
The agriculturists said that Bangladesh has achieved tremendous success in boosting the production of agri-crops, so the country is going to achieve food security.
It has been possible to innovate the latest agro technologies due to the contribution of the agri-scientists of the country.
The Agri scientists should be more sincere and play a role in innovating climate-tolerant agritechnologies to further boost food production, facing all the challenges caused by climate change, they opined.
They made the comments while addressing a daylong workshop on Climate Smart Agri Module Validating at the conference room of the deputy director (DD) of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) of the town here this afternoon.
Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK), a Gaibandha-based non-government organization, arranged the workshop under the scheme of the Bangladesh Program to End Modern Slavery, funded by Winrock International and the US Department of State.
DD of DAE Krishibid Khorshed Alam Sarker addressed the function as the chief guest, while ADD (Horticulture) Rostam Ali presided over the workshop.
Chief instructor of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Nasrin Naheed, senior scientific officer of BARI Jahangir Alam, Sadullapur upazila agriculture officer Matiul Alam, regional coordinator of Winrock International Mizanur Rahman, and project manager Arfan Mondal addressed the workshop, among others.
The speakers in their speeches emphasized the need for adaptation of climate-resilient agri-technologies to boost the production of agri-crops to achieve sustainable food security in the country by making the farmers adaptive to the negative impacts caused by climate change.
In this context, the chief guest underscored the need for innovating and introducing smart agro-technologies to farmers to build a smart Bangladesh by 2041, a vision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Over 20 farmers who are producing crops facing the negative impacts of climate change participated in the workshop.
