Egg-chicken prices fluctuate widely

Egg-chicken prices fluctuate widely Once the price of eggs and chicken is going down, it is going up again. At the beginning of the Corona crisis, prices of all food items in the country were rising in March. Then the price of only eggs and chicken goes down. Comes down by half compared to February. Vendors have sold these two products at less than half the cost of production. But in the last one week, when the prices of most of the daily commodities in the country are declining, the prices of eggs and chickens are going up. According to the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), the price of eggs has gone up by Tk. 5 per Hali(4pieces)  and chicken by Tk. 10 per kg in the last one month. The price of these two products is increasing by 1 to Tk. per week. As such, each egg is being sold at Tk. 9 and chicken at Tk 160 per kg. On the other hand, the price of one to two day old chicks has gone up from Tk. 55 to Tk. 60 in the last one week. As a result, these baby farms are making good profits. However, even two months ago, these farms were in danger. From March to May they could not sell more than half of the chicks they produced. The production cost of each chick was 30 to 35 Tk. but then it was sold for 5 to 10 Tk. About 45 percent of these farms have closed. People associated with the poultry industry say that the sudden rise in the price of chicks will have an impact on the chicken and egg market. Because, the mature chickens that are being sold in the market now were bought for 30 to 35 rupees as a chick. As a result, the price of chicken has gone up from Tk. 140 to 150 in the last one month. So now the farmers can ask for more price by selling the chicks bought at higher price. Asked about this, Bangladesh Poultry Co-ordination Committee (BPICC) President Mashiur Rahman told, "We have lost Tk.7,500 crore to 65,000 entrepreneurs in the sector due to the corona crisis." Especially small and medium farmers have lost 40 to 45 percent of their capital. As a result, production has also decreased a lot. Now the demand for chicken meat and eggs has increased. But if these farms are not given some capital now, there will be more danger ahead. ' Find more... Source: Online/SZK
