Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina awarded the Bangabandhu National Agriculture Awards-1425 and 1426. She conferred this medal as the highest state recognition in the agriculture sector to 44 individuals and institutions in 10 categories virtually from his official residence Gana Bhaban.

Today (October 12, 2022) this program was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium.

Agriculture Minister Dr. Muhammad Abdur Razzak, Fisheries and Animal Resources Minister Sh. M. Rezaul Karim and President of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture Ministry and former Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury.

Mohammad Sayedul Islam, secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture gave a welcome speech, among the awardees, Sharmin Akhter expressed her feelings for the winners.

A documentary on the achievements of the Ministry of Agriculture and its activities was screened on the occasion.

On behalf of the Prime Minister, the Agriculture Minister distributed the Bangabandhu National Agriculture Awards 1425 and 1426 among 44 individuals and institutions for their contribution to agricultural research and extension, cooperatives, stimulation, technological innovation, commercial farming, forestry, cattle rearing and fish farming. The award was given to 15 individuals and organizations for Bengali 1425 and 21 individuals and organizations for Bengali 1426.


Three gold medals, twenty-five bronze medals, and sixteen silver medals are distributed among selected individuals and institutions.

Each of the gold medalists received an 18-carat gold medal weighing 25 grams of Tk one lakh and each silver medalist received Tk 50,000 cash and 25 gm pure silver medal and the bronze medalist Tk 25,000 with a medal.

In 1973, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman introduced this award with the aim of taking the agricultural economy of the newly independent country to new heights.

After the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1975, subsequent governments canceled the award.

But after assuming power in 2009, the current Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina enacted the 'Bangabandhu National Agricultural Award Fund Act-2009' to institutionalize the award introduced by Bangabandhu.

The 'Bangabandhu National Agricultural Award Trust Act, 2016' has been enacted to speed up the activities of this sector.
