Other products are almost normal. Rice prices have been falling for three consecutive weeks after an unusual increase. The same rice that was 55 Tk. per kg in the market last week is now being sold at Tk. 58. And rice at 50 Tk. per kg is being sold at Tk. 52. Coarse rice, which has come down to Tk. 45 per kg, is being sold at Tk. 48. According to the state-run marketing agency TCB, the price of medium rice has risen by 4.76 percent in the last one week. The price of coarse rice has increased by 3.37 percent. However, traders said that the price of rice may come down in a day or two. In this context, Abdur Rahman, a rice trader in Kawran Bazar, said that the price of rice has gone up this week due to shortage of rice supply. If the sale of imported rice starts within a day or two, the price will come down. However, there is no chance of reducing the price too much. Meanwhile, the vegetable market is relieved by maintaining the continuity of the last few weeks. In particular, the prices of onions and potatoes have come down further. The discussed onion has now come down to 30 Tk. per kg. And potatoes are being sold at 18 Tk. per kg. Such a picture has been seen in different markets of the capital. However, the price of open soybean has come down this week though it has gone down a bit last week. Bottled soybeans are being sold at the same price. In this context, Haji Golam Mawla, President of Wholesale Edible Oil Traders Association and General Secretary of Maulvi Bazar Traders Association, said, "If the price goes up in the world market, the price goes up in our market." If the price goes down in the world market, the price goes down here too. However, during the winter, soybeans freeze. As a result, the supply in the market decreased and the price of soybean increased. In this case, the companies increase the price at the mill gate. Source: Online/SZK
