The reason for the sudden rise in prices is the supply crisis. At the beginning of the general holiday, i.e. at the end of March and the beginning of April, the farm owners sold the chickens at Tk. 60 to Tk.  80 per kg as there was no demand. Hatchery owners killed one-day-old chicks for not being able to sell them. Now the deficit has been created. At the farm level in Gazipur area, the price of broiler chicken is 130 Tk. per kg. It is reaching the consumer at the rate of 160 Tk. per kg. As a government agency Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), the market price of broiler chicken is now 140 to 160 Tk. In one month, the price has increased by 43 percent. Khandaker Mohammad Mohsin, president of the National Council for the Protection of Poultry Farms and a farmer from Sreepur in Gazipur, said farmers could not raise chickens because they could not sell chickens at a loss. That is why there is a shortage now. It is temporary. The price of cock chicken in the market is 220 Tk. per kg. In this case, the price did not change much. And the price of domestic chicken is 500 to 550 Tk. per kg. This price has been rising for a long time. Source: Online/SZK
