[caption id="attachment_4368" align="aligncenter" width="1014"]Dirk Maier received the International Ag Award Dirk Maier, Professor, Agricultural and Bio-systems Engineering, Iowa State University, Picture: Collected[/caption] Dirk Maier, a professor in the Department of Agriculture and Bio-system Engineering at Iowa State University, has recently achieved outstanding achievements at the International Agriculture Awards. Mr. Meyer, who contributes articles to the regular World Grain publication of a sister publication of Milling and Baking News, is a leading expert on preserved product safety and quality grain supply. His international activities have benefited Iowa agriculture and rural development. Mr. Meyer played an active role in the establishment of feed manufacturing at the Middle East and Africa Training Center in Tunisia, a collaborative effort involving multiple government agencies. During its first year, more than 200 art professionals from Tunisia and Algeria were trained. His work as director of the International Consortium on Post-Harvest Losses and Reduction of Food Waste in Innovation has boosted the state of Iowa’s international reputation as a leader in the fight against food waste and insecurity. Mr. Maier has Published 262 reports, including 77 refereed journal articles; presented 74 invited lectures in 17 countries; mentored 40 graduate students; and sponsored 14 postdoctoral scholars.
