In the last few days, the prices of almost all types of products including rice, flour, pulses, onion, ginger, turmeric, dried chillies, powdered milk and edible oil have gone up. Low-income people are in dire straits as prices of various essential commodities soar ahead of the upcoming Ramadan when people are lost in fear of the corona virus infection. Especially working, jobless people have become naive. Concerned parties have said that the holy month of Ramadan will begin in a few days. Every year before Ramadan, the demand for daily necessities increases. Khatunganj in Chittagong, Moulvibazar in Dhaka and other major consumer goods destinations in the country are busy in supplying and marketing products. But this time, due to the Corona crisis, there is a general holiday for about a month, which is causing problems in the marketing and supply of goods across the country. As a result, the prices of daily commodities are increasing. Concerned people said that even after sending money to Mokam, the wholesale traders are not getting the goods on time. If the goods are not unloaded at the port quickly and the marketing and supply system is not kept normal, a kind of instability will be created in the market of daily commodities. Already a class of rogue traders has begun to reap its benefits. According to a search in the capital's retail market on Monday (April 20, 2020), prices of rice, pulses, edible oil, flour, onion, ginger, garlic, turmeric, dried chillies and powdered milk have gone up in the last one week.
