Mr. Kazi Ekhlasul Haque, the managing director of Chicks and Feeds Limited named a leading agro-industries service provider company in Bangladesh since 2001 aiming to provide `One Stop Solution’ to the agro-based company said this in an interview with Grain Feed & Milling Magazine on July 27, 2019.

GFMM: What kinds of business are you involved in and how did you get yourself involved with this business?
Mr. Ekhlas: I am involved in agro-based businesses. Before joining this business, I worked for a few days in a company like this in America. Then I came back to Bangladesh and started working at a company like this. Later I took the initiative to build this company myself.
GFMM: Would you please give us brief information about your company and products?
Mr. Ekhlas: Sure, our product and services is not limited to the supply and installation of machinery/plant only; however, with our increasing experience and expertise, we are now providing entire agro – industrial solution. Apart from supplying machinery and plants, we also provide lifelong technical assistance, training & capacity building services to our client’s engineers and technicians from the beginning of installation to commissioning of the plant. As a reliable, recognized, one-stop agro solution provider in Bangladesh we facilitate both forward and backward market linkages for our clients and support them to upgrade their existing plant and machinery. Our engineering team provides technical support that includes maintenance, troubleshooting & repairing, skill development services, etc. Additionally, we also have team of foreign engineers who provides total plant installation and commissioning support.
GFMM: Tell us something about the poultry industry or farming in Bangladesh.
Mr. Ekhlas: Poultry industry or farming in Bangladesh is the process of keeping different types of birds for meat, egg, feather or sale.

In Bangladesh, poultry birds are widely used for meat and egg. Bangladesh weather is very much friendly for poultry farming. There are various kinds of poultry birds are domesticated for many years ago. As of 2017 about 300 billion taka has been invested in the poultry industry. There is an estimated 150,000 poultry farms in Bangladesh. The farms annually produce 570 million tons of meat and 7.34 billion eggs. Per capita consumption of meat and egg remain below the level recommended by the Food and Agriculture Organization FAO.
GFMM: Tell us about the feed mills and technology made in Bangladesh.
Mr. Ekhlas: Bangladeshi feed mill and technology are world class. Poultry feed is made mostly from imported soybean and soy meal. The Feed Industries Association of Bangladesh is the only body for animal feed manufacturers in Bangladesh which include Poultry, Fish, Cattle and Shrimp Feed. Bangladesh has a unique, hi-tech Feed Industry. The technologies are mostly imported from Europe and USA and a few from China. Almost 98 per cent Poultry, Fish, Cattle and Shrimp feeds are manufactured in commercial feed mills. At present the industry is meeting the total local demand. The industry maintains high standards & quality and ensure a 'double check-ups' before marketing their products. Almost all the large feed mills have their own laboratory. Every single ingredient is tested here before use. The ingredients, whether imported or locally collected, are not allowed to use unless it gets OK certificate from the Lab.
GFMM: Can you say something about feed processing machinery in Bangladesh?
