The processing of finished grains and oils across the country met the market supply at that time in terms of quantity and quality, guaranteed military needs and civilian food, and supported the development of the national economy.
By 1985, the national output of finished grains had reached more than 50 million tons, including more than 22.65 million tons of rice, more than 25.25 million tons of flour, more than 2.25 million tons of miscellaneous grains, and more than 2.5 million tons of vegetable oil. The total output value of the grain and oil industry reached more than 24.3 billion yuan, ranking first in China's food industry. The development of the grain and oil machinery industry has also created a glorious export aid for the grain and oil industry. The products represented by small-scale rice hulling machines, rice mills, and 200-type oil presses are exported to thousands of units each year, earning a total of more than 26 million US dollars in foreign exchange. Among them, the "Dongfanghong" brand grain machine and "Shuangshi" brand grain hulling rubber rollers have become best-selling products in the Southeast Asian market.
There are more than 30 grain and oil processing plant projects undertaking the economic assistance of the Chinese government to the Third World, which has a huge impact on the politics and economy of these countries and regions. The most representative of them are assistance to the rice mills in Myanmar and Algeria, assistance to the corn flour factory in Zambia, assistance to the peanut oil factory in Guinea, assistance to the sunflower oil factory in Romania, assistance to the rice milling affiliated rice husk power plant project in Mali, etc. This series of achievements reflects the hard work of several generations of employees in the grain and oil machinery industry and has won honors for the country.
