The Bangladesh government has decided to purchase one crore liters of soybean oil at a cost of about 181 crore taka. The proposal in this regard was approved at a meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Government Procurement.
The meeting was held on Tuesday (January 13, 2026) under the chairmanship of Finance Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.
Meeting sources stated that a proposal to purchase one crore liters of refined soybean oil through a local open tender process was submitted by the Ministry of Commerce. The Advisory Council Committee reviewed and approved the proposal.
It has been decided to purchase one crore liters of refined soybean oil from the lowest bidder, Sonargaon Seeds Crushing Mills Limited, Dhaka. The total cost of purchasing this oil at 180 taka. 85 paisa per liter will be 180 crore 85 lakh taka.
