The official launch of Bangladesh Pavilion in Dubai, the world’s largest exhibition World Expo 2020 has started. Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi MP inaugurated the pavilion on Friday (October 1, 2021).

For the first time, Bangladesh participated in the World Expo in its own pavilion. The six-month exhibition will run until March 31 next year. The socio-economic progress of Bangladesh in the last 50 years and its history and heritage are being displayed in the exhibition.

On the occasion of the official inauguration of the Bangladesh Pavilion, a seminar titled “Irresistible Bangladesh: A Prosperous Destination for Trade and Investment” was organized by the Ministry of Commerce in the Conference Room of the Pavilion. Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi MP was the chief guest at the function presided over by UAE Ambassador Abu Jafar. State Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmed MP addressed as special guest.

Among others, Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Vice Chairman AHM Ahsan, Bangladesh Consul General in Dubai, UAE BM Jamal Hossain, NRB CIP Association President and Al Haramain Group Chairman Mahatabur Rahman Nasir were present on the occasion. , Expatriate businessman and chairman of KPC Group Kalipradeep Chowdhury spoke.

Dilara Afroz Khan, a teacher at North South University, presented the keynote address at the seminar.

In his speech, Tipu Munshi urged the expatriates to invest in motherland Bangladesh. He said, “Investment friendly environment is prevailing in Bangladesh. Our socio-economic progress is enviable. We have advanced compared to the neighboring countries. You bring investment, the government will give you all kinds of support. ”

Addressing the expatriates, he further said, “If you have any suggestions to make it easier for the expatriates to invest, bring them. The government will take them very seriously. ”

The Commerce Minister said Bangladesh is no longer a bottomless basket. The world will be informed about the progress made in the last 50 years through the Dubai Expo.

State Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmed called upon the expatriates to send remittances as well as invest in job creation activities. He said, “Building a house by sending remittances is not an investment. You invest in areas where employment is created. The country’s exports increase. ”

He said, “Bangladesh is moving fast, our growth is understandable, what is the investment environment there. There are great investment opportunities. The government is providing policy support. Use your wire. ”

Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh said that this year’s expo will not only talk about exports or trade. The history and heritage of the country and the fact that Bangladeshis are a humane nation will be presented to the world. He hoped that through this exhibition, Bangladesh would be able to be strongly represented in the world court in the next six months.

The UAE government inaugurated the “World Expo, 2020 Dubai” at 7 pm local time on Thursday. 192 countries have participated in this expo. The exhibition is being held for the first time in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia. The last World Expo was held in 2015 in Milan, Italy.

In addition to the digital exhibition, there are offices, conference rooms and B2B meeting halls in the 436 sq m space in the two-storey pavilion of Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Pavilion has been decorated with pictures of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, President Mohammad Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. In addition to the product exhibition, the natural beauty of the country has been beautifully displayed there.
