Japonica
rice grains are wide and short, thicker, oval or oval. Grain strength, good
pressure resistance, the processing is not easy to produce broken rice, rice
yield is high, rice swelling is small, but the viscosity is larger.
Indica rice
grains are thin and long, oval or elongated. The grain strength is small, the
pressure resistance is poor, the processing is easy to produce broken rice,
rice yield is low, rice swelling, and viscosity is small.
The grain
shape of japonica and indica glutinous rice is similar to that of japonica and
indica rice, respectively. The rice grains are waxy white, opaque, or
translucent. The rice is very sticky, and the swelling is very small.
Japonica and
Indica rice can be divided into three types according to their sowing, growing
and maturity stages: early, middle and late rice. Generally, the growing period
of early rice is 90 ~ 120 days, middle rice is 120 ~ 150 days, and late rice is
150 ~ 170 days. Their sowing period and harvest season, due to the different
climatic conditions in each region, also have great differences.
