Johnson and his cabinet ministers discussed using tariffs as "lifting" to accelerate trade talks at a meeting this week. As a result, tariffs on some types of French cheese can be as high as 30% and German cars at 10%. The report said that at an EU exit strategy committee meeting held on Thursday, the ministers agreed that tariffs should be kept for consultation, according to the report. Ministers have agreed to give Japan, the United States, Australia and New Zealand a "higher level" and other countries "priority" in the negotiations, the newspaper added. Johnson will plan to hold talks in the first week of February, the report added, citing Brussels officials. US Treasury Secretary Steven Manuchin said Friday that the U.S. wants to end trade deals with Britain this year. Britain leaves the EU on January 31. Source: Online/szk
