‘Bangladesh need to be ready for the 4.0 industrial revolution’

Sardar Zahidul Kabir: All industrial factories in Bangladesh have to be ready for the 4.0/fourth industrial revolution. Mr. Naveed Md. Akkas the Director of Sincons Engineers Limited, Dhaka, Bangladesh said this in an interview with Grain Feed & Milling Magazine on September 3, 2019. The magnetic part of his interview is mentioned below; Grain Feed & Milling Magazine: Sir, tell me a little bit about your business organization and how you got involved with this business? Mr. Naveed Md. Akkas: Having been born in a business family and inspired by the environment in which I was brought up, my mind was set for doing business from the very childhood. This remained undeterred from the influence of my early education in the oldest cadet college in the country followed by the professional education in a number of engineering univerisy like WPUET in Lahore, BUET in Dhaka, University of Wales in UK and the various professional training in USA,Germany, France, Switzerland, Spain etc. Not only the formal education in the said institutions, but also the experience gained from a number of years involvement with the biggest engineering in Europe during the late 70′s have contributed to my developing a business with the sole motto of Sales, INstallation, COmmissioning & Service, from where the name SINCOS was derived and a company called SINCOS ENGINEERS LTD. Was formed in 1983. GFMM: Tell me about the nature of your business, what kind of services do you provide to the industrial enterprises of this country? Mr. Naveed: As the name implies; the nature of business of Sincos goes far beyond setting only. It is a total commitment to provide complete solutions to hundreds of our customers, who have benefited in various sectors and sub-sectors of industry in the country. GFMM: What sectors, sub-sectors do you have customers in? Mr. Naveed: Our customer sectors, sub-sectors are Agro-chemicals, Beverage, Cement, Cosmetics, Dairy Products, Electric Bulbs, Electric & Telephone Cables, Instant Feeding Accessories, Latex/Natural  Rubber Products, Lubricant, Mineral Water, Packaging, Paint, Pesticides, Pharmaceuticals, Plastic Goods, Poultry, Printing, PVC Pipes, Snack Food, Spices, Steel Pipes, Textile, Tobacco, Toiletries and so on. Sincos has been evolved for its customers, by its customers and with its customers for the ultimate satisfaction of its customers. This has resulted in the formation of its sisters company, SINCOS AUTOMATION TECHNOLOGIES LTD. in 2000. The company has been supporting almost every industry engaged in mass production relying on automation technology in Bangladesh. GFMM: In which category is the industrial factory of Bangladesh compared to the developed world?  Mr. Naveed: Most of the industrial factories in Bangladesh are in the early stage when industry 4.0 has reached the developed world. We need to be ready for the 4.0 industrial revolution. GFMM: What is Industry 4.0? Mr. Naveed: Industry 4.0 optimizes the computerization of Industry 3.0. GFMM: Industry 4.0 make the matter a little easier. Mr. Naveed: First came steam and water power; then electricity and assembly lines; then computerization … So what comes next?... Some call it the fourth industrial revolution, or industry 4.0, but whatever you call it, it represents the combination of cyber-physical systems, the Internet of Things, and the Internet of Systems. When computers were introduced in Industry 3.0, it was disruptive thanks to the addition of an entirely new technology. Now, and into the future as Industry 4.0 unfolds, computers are connected and communicate with one another to ultimately make decisions without human involvement. A combination of cyber-physical systems, the Internet of Things and the Internet of Systems make Industry 4.0 possible and the smart factory a reality. As a result of the support of smart machines that keep getting smarter as they get access to more data, our factories will become more efficient and productive and less wasteful. Ultimately, it's the network of these machines that are digitally connected with one another and create and share information that results in the true power of Industry 4.0. GFMM: What is the most important quality or characteristic of a successful industrialist? Mr. Naveed: Patience, patience is one of the greatest qualities of a successful industrialist. GFMM: Can you say something to the industrialists of Bangladesh? Mr. Naveed: You use your product. If you cannot use your product, why produce it?  If you want to use advanced products, so, improve your industry, improve your factory. With you, the industries, factories of the country will prosper. GFMM: Thank you very much!
